Harmison Returns From ECB National Academy

Durham's Stephen Harmison will return home from the National Academy following the match against the South Australians which begins on Monday 11 February in Adelaide.

As a result of injuries to fast bowlers Stephen Kirby and Simon Jones, which means they will miss the forthcoming four-day game against South Australia 2nd XI, Yorkshire's Ryan Sidebottom travels to Australia today to boost the Academy's fast bowling resources. He will remain with the National Academy squad until the end of the current programme in Australia and will return home with the rest of the players on 15 March.

Speaking from Australia Rod Marsh, National Academy Director, said, "Harmison has led the bowling attack in every game since the squad returned to Australia after Christmas. As a result of him not having had a rest, he will not be required to play in the one-day matches in Sydney and the four-day match in Perth. These are the final matches of this winter's Academy programme and the management has therefore agreed that he should return home after next week's match to prepare for the coming summer at home."
