Hartlepool Reign as Floodlit Tournament Champions

Hartlepool Cricket Club's Under 13s have won the Durham Cricket Board Floodlit Tournament for the second year running.

The reigning champions made it through four qualifying events, beating Norton in the final at Biddick Comprehensive, Washington. Hartlepool player Paul Johnson picked up the Man of the Match award for his performance throughout the tournament.

25 teams took part in the tournament, with four qualifying events at Temple Park, Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Biddick Comprehensive and Norton Cricket Club. Eight teams took place in the final; Silksworth, Haughton, Houghton, Sacriston, Willington and Whitburn.

Durham Cricket Board Development Officer, Graeme Weeks said: "The tournament is played using a new, exciting and colourful form of cricket called 'Inter Cricket'. The rules ensure that the best all-round team wins the event and Hartlepool have again proved the strength and depth they have in their junior section."
