Family Fun @ The Riverside

Father of two, Peter Beardsley, officially opened the Universal Kidszone during the first Norwich Union League game at the Riverside, between Durham Dynamos and Warwickshire Bears.

The Universal Kidzone, situated at the Lumley End of the ground, is open throughout all eight of Durham's home Norwich Union League games. All children are welcome within the fully supervised area, which includes bouncy castles, face painting, bats 'n' stumps game, throwing and catching games and cricket coaching. AND IT'S TOTALLY FREE!

The Universal Kidzone is part of a range of initiatives Durham is currently undertaking to encourage and increase the number of children and families participating in and watching cricket. This season also sees the launch of the Family Stand, which is alcohol free, and the Family Picnic Area. As part of their sponsorship, Universal Building Society has launched two savings accounts - Young Money Spinner Account for U18s and a Money Spinner Savings Accounts for the adults.

The Zone opens one hour before the start of play until close of play.

James Bailey, Marketing Manager at Durham County Cricket Club said: "It is our long term goal to appeal to and attract youngsters and families to the game of cricket. Our partnership with Universal Building Society has allowed us to progress this goal by providing a whole day of family entertainment."

Christine Heslop, Marketing Manager at Universal Building Society, said: "I'm delighted that the Society is teaming up with Durham County Cricket Club offering cricket lovers and their families an excellent savings opportunity and a fun day out. This is a great partnership between two winning organisations."
