NatWest calling all local cricket fans

Monday 21 May 2021 - NatWest's 'Cricket in Unusual Places' promotion is set to bowl into Gateshead on Saturday 26th at the Metro shopping centre, offering all fans the chance to test their cricket skills, whilst setting a challenge to the younger generation to scoop the title of NatWest U-12 and U-16 County Durham Fast Bowler of the Year.

Martin Love, the recently signed Durham batsman from Australia will launch the first ever 'Cricket in Unusual Places' promotion at 10am next Saturday (26 May 2021) at the Metro shopping centre in Gateshead.

The promotion, which is taking place just prior to The NatWest Series at Chester le Street between Australia and Pakistan on Saturday June 16th, offers an alternative 'cricket experience' and consists of a cricket cage, Flicx (artificial) pitch and demonstrations throughout the day from ECB-endorsed coaches.

The competition will run every half-an-hour between the hours of 11am and 4pm and will be divided into U-12 and U-16 categories. All competitors will receive a keepsake displaying the speed that they bowled as well as an entry form to receive tickets to The NatWest Series between Australia v Pakistan on Saturday 16th June. Winners in either age group will receive NatWest Series merchandise as a prize.

NatWest has been a major sponsor of cricket since 1981 when the bank began 20 years of sponsorship of The NatWest Trophy. In 2000, following a successful sponsorship of the Cricket World Cup, NatWest became the first title sponsor of the new international, one day triangular competition, The NatWest Series.

The NatWest Series is a 10 match tournament played around the country involving England and the two visiting test teams each summer. Chester le Street will host both visiting teams (Australia and Pakistan) this year on Saturday 16 June and all matches will be broadcast live on Sky TV.

NatWest, now part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, is one of the biggest banks in the UK. NatWest provides a whole range of financial services to over 7 million personal and business customers. NatWest has over 1640 branches and operates nearly 3800 cash machines.
