What's New

Durham's New Overseas Player is Named Queensland Bulls Player of the Year.

Durham's new overseas player Martin Love capped off an outstanding season for the Queensland bulls to claim the Ian Healy Trophy as the Bulls Player of the Year.

Love turned in his finest performance for the Bulls since his 1000-run season in 1994-95 with 834 Pura Cup runs at 75.81, which also earned him the JS Hutcheon Trophy for the best batting average by a Queensland player. Love scored 910 first class runs at 75.83 for the season and also scored 315 runs in the Mercantile Mutual Cup competition at 52.50.

He played in the Pura Cup Final two weeks after having surgery on a broken thumb and scored a vital 54 in the second innings run chase. Martin has informed the club that his thumb has not given him one inch of trouble. He is having a new splint made up that he will wear in the first few matches for Durham but is otherwise very pleased with how everything has worked out.

"Martin has had a very successful season for the Bulls and we are looking forward to him continuing his run of excellent form at Durham in our Bid for promotion", said Director of Cricket, Geoff Cook.
